HUNTINGTON, W.Va – A late "wonder goal" gave Old Dominion (9-1-2) a 2-1 win over the Marshall women's soccer team (6-5-1) Thursday evening at Hoops Family Field.
It was ODU's 84th minute strike from 30 yards out which propelled the visitors to the road result despite a statistically even second half.
Bailey Fisher scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season earlier in the second half to level the scoring at the time.
"We know that we can get ourselves back in games, we can battle in those games," Marshall women's soccer head coach Michael Swan said. "We will have a battle against App State over the weekend. But if we battle like we did in the second half, we will have a good performance."
Fisher's goal in the 48th minute kickstarted a more even second half for the Herd. In the first half, ODU scored in the 32nd minute despite two big saves from freshman goalkeeper Ashlyn Drayer.
