HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – After a nine-day layoff following its signature win over Florida, Marshall's women's basketball team (4-4) showed little signs of rust in a 115-56 victory over Salem (2-8) Monday evening from the Cam Henderson Center.
Coach Kim Caldwell's team used separate 14 and 10-point runs in the 59-point win.
"We have had a long set of days of straight practice with no game in sight so I am sure [the team] was happy to play someone else and it was good to get that one done with," Coach Caldwell said. "Our offense looked okay because we were hitting shots and usually when we hit a couple shots we settle in, but our defense was not where we needed it to be, so we gave them a couple of things to come out and work on in the second half and they did that."
The Herd had a season-high six players in double figures scoring, including senior guard Aislynn Hayes with 23, Abby Beeman for 15, and Breanna Campbell added 14.
"Coming out and respecting our opponent, knowing that we have to play hard no matter what game we come off of," said Campbell. "We came off the big win last week so we had to respect our opponent and play hard regardless of what division our opponent is. We all enjoy playing basketball so it was nice to be able to come back and play at home," said Campbell.

On Marshall's roster, a season-best 12 scored. !2 of the 13 players also tallied at least one rebound, including Sophomore Olivia Ziolkowski who set a career-best.
