Herd opens conference play next week at Southern Miss

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Marshall Thundering Herd lost a tight-affair at Wake Forest, 66-59 Thursday afternoon in North Carolina.
The Demon Deacons finished the game on a 10-3 run over the final 3:13 to take what was the final game before both teams enter Sun Belt Conference and ACC play respectively next week.
"Yeah that was tough, we didn't do very well down the stretch," Coach Kim Caldwell said. "We got out hustled a lot of times and we will fix that, shot selection was not great either down the stretch. There were a lot of good things that we can fix going into conference play."

Abby Beeman led the way for MU with 12 points on what was a balanced scoring day for the Herd. Marshall was limited to 30 rebounds compared to the hosts' 46. Coach Caldwell's team did win the turnover battle, forcing 26 Demon Deacon giveaways, 10 more than what the visitors committed.
Marshall led by as much as nine early in a game which featured 10 lead changes. The Herd never trailed by more than a possession until the final minute of the game
