Majoy is the school record holder in indoor pole vault
NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University women's track and field graduate senior Macie Majoy has been named the Sun Belt Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the conference office.
"I'm so excited for Macie winning this award!" Head Coach Jeff Small said. "Nobody works harder or cares about her event more than she does!"
The graduate senior from Huron, Ohio broke her own school record in the pole vault at the PNC Bellarmine Invitational last Friday. Majoy dominated the competition, winning the event with a vault of 4.10 meters.
Prior to this season, no female Marshall athlete had surpassed vaulting four meters in an indoor meet. Majoy first broke the record on Jan. 20 with a 4.03 meter jump, only for the record to be shattered the following week.
The second-best vault in the Sun Belt Conference is currently 3.83 meters.
