Herd Softball Travels to Louisville to Face Bellarmine and UT Martin

First game Wednesday starts at 1 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va - The Marshall Thundering Herd hits the road for a pair of midweek games against UT Martin and Bellarmine before returning home for its highly anticipated home-opening SBC series against Southern Miss this weekend.
Coach Megan Smith Lyon's team will play both games Wednesday from Knights Field at Bellarmine University.Â

PREGAME NOTES
- The Herd played one game in Boone for the SBC opening weekend, defeating App State, 8-0
- As a team, Marshall is leading the Sun Belt in batting average (.363), ERA (1.29), and stolen bases (67). All three categories rank top-15 nationally.Â
- Sophomore Bub Feringa has recorded 11 doubles this season, which is most in the Sun Belt, and 5th-most in the country.
ABOUT THE UT MARTIN SKYHAWKS
- Brian Dunn leads the Skyhawks with a successful 12-year coaching run of 531-167-2 leading two different teams. In five seasons with UT Martin, Dunn is 82-59.
- The Skyhawks (9-11, 2-3 OVC) were picked to win the Ohio Valley Conference.
- One of just three players in NCAA DI with a higher batting average than Autumn Owen's remarkable .521 average is UTM's Kari Fuller. The team's CF is batting .527 in 2023.
ABOUT THE BELLARMINE KNIGHTS
- The Knights are led by Head Coach Caitlyn de la Haba.Â
- Bellarmine is the second Atlantic Sun Conference team the Herd has faced in 2023 (Liberty).
- Leading BU offensively is sophomore Chloe Collins from Flatwoods, Ky. Collins has hit five home runs with 9 RBI this season.
