Brett Armbruster Named SBC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

First Men’s Track Sun Belt Conference Award
NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University men's track and field senior Brett Armbruster has been named the Sun Belt Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday as announced by the conference office.
Armbuster raced the top mark in the conference in both the 800 and 1500, racing a 1:52.07 in the 800 and a 3:35.91 in the 1500 at the UNF River City Spring Break Classic last week.
Armbruster had spent his first four seasons with the Herd on the cross country team. With the addition of track and field for the 2022-23 season, the senior from Barboursville, West Virginia has been able to showcase his ability on the track.
"I'm so excited for Brett winning this honor," Head Coach Jeff Small said. "To think this young man has languished away the last four years running 8K's and 10K's while his true calling is the 800 and 1500. All I can say is thank you Christian Spears and congrats Brett Armbruster."
Cross Country Head Coach Caleb Bowen has seen Armbruster grow while taking on a leadership role for the return of the program.
"It's just so awesome to see Brett be rewarded for all of the hard work he has put in over the past few years," Bowen said. "He's overcome so much to be where he is now. He's developed into one of our team leaders and I am extremely proud of him. I can't wait to see him progress and elevate this program to the next level!"
