Marshall surges up leaderboard after team goes 2-under on final day
Final results
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Marshall's men's golf team shot under par for their final round in the Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate, surging the team into a ninth place finish for the tournament at True Blue Golf Club at Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
Leading the way for Marshall was Tyler Jones, whose birdie on his final hole – the par-5 No. 9 – completed a 2-under 70 that left him tied for 16th at tourney's end.
Ryan Bilby turned in another round under par for the Herd on Wednesday, birdieing three of his final five holes to finish at 1-under 71 on the day, which gave him his second round of Even par or better on the week.
Joseph Kalaskey and Clayton Thomas each showed strong consistency throughout the three-day event to finish in the top-40.
Kalaskey best his prior two rounds of 73 with a final round at Even-par 72 to finish at 2-over for the tournament, which was good for a tie for 27th place.
Thomas, competing as an individual, backed up his two rounds of 73 with a 74 by carding 16 pars, which left him in a tie with Bilby at 4-over for the tournament.
Marshall now takes a couple weeks off before ending the spring season in the Mountaineer Invitational, hosted by West Virginia University on April 17-18.
