Marshall Softball Returns to Action Wednesday at Morehead State

Herd to play a single midweek game before returning to SBC play this weekend.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va - The Marshall Thundering Herd softball team (33-4, 9-1 SBC) travels down Interstate 64 to face the Morehead State Eagles (10-16, 5-7 OVC).Â
Marshall will face MSU for the third time in 2023, after sweeping the Eagles in a doubleheader in Huntington in early March. The two sides will meet for a single midweek game at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday before the Herd travels to Myrtle Beach this weekend to face Coastal Carolina.

- The 2023 season for MU Softball has produced historic moments such as the team's best 20, 25, and 30 game starts in program history. The team's 23-game winning streak marked the longest in the 30-year history of the program.
- As a team, Marshall is leading the Sun Belt in batting average (.361), ERA (1.28), and stolen bases (91). All three categories rank in the top-10 nationally.Â
- Pitcher Sydney Nester is second in the country in wins (19), and in shutouts (8). Nester earned her first save of the season in Marshall's 4-3 win over ULM Saturday.Â

- Since Marshall and MSU last met on March 2nd in Huntington, the Eagles have gone 7-11 overall, and 5-7 in Ohio Valley Conference play.Â
- Offensively, Emily Williams is the team's top hitter with a .361 average.Â
