Herd finishes in 10th place at Pete Dye Golf Club
Final results
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Marshall Men's Golf wrapped up action at the Mountaineer Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
The Herd finished the event in 10th place following Tuesday's final round.
"I thought we would come out and play well today, but we struggled from the start and really couldn't get any momentum," Marshall men's golf coach Matt Grobe said.
Marshall's Tyler Jones finished tops among the Herd contingent, but Jones saw a pair of double-bogeys leave him with a 78 that took him outside the top-20.
Jones shot Marshall's best round of the day, which was followed closely by Christian Boyd's 79. Boyd led Marshall with four birdies on Tuesday.
Oklahoma State, who came into the event ranked No. 20 nationally, won the event by 20 strokes over Drexel.
Oklahoma State's Jonas Baumgartner shot a final round 70 to take home individual honors by two strokes ahead of teammate Bo Jin, who shot the day's best round – a 7-under 65 – to join James Madison's Daniel Cheng in second place.
Marshall's next action will come at the Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship, scheduled for April 24-27 at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi.
"We have a couple days back home to get some practice in and get ready for the Sun Belt Conference Championship next week," Grobe said.
