Herd Men’s Soccer Begins 2023 with Exhibition at Michigan

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University men's soccer team begins its 2023 season with an exhibition at Michigan on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Herd returns some key players including Matthew Bell and Adam Aoumaich. Bell was the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and was named first-team all-conference last season. The Kingston, Jamaica, native started all 19 of the Herd's matches and tallied 10 goals to finish tied for second in the SBC on a conference-high 25 shots on goal. Bell racked up 24 points, second most in the Sun Belt.
Aoumaich was named the 2023 SBC Newcomer of the Year along with second-team all-conference honors last season. The Paris, France, native tallied a team-high nine assists, second most in the Sun Belt, to go with a pair of goals for 13 points.
The MU roster also features some new faces with 15 newcomers, including a familiar face in Alvaro Garcia-Pascual. Garcia-Pascual transferred from Coastal Carolina after the 2022 season as he scored 10 goals for the Chanticleers, tied for the SBC lead with Bell, and was named first-team all-SBC.
