Marshall Hosts High Point in Home Opener Sunday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall women's soccer team (1-0) returns to Hoops Family Field for its home opener Sunday against High Point (0-0-1).

PRE-MATCH NOTES

Marshall opened the 2023 season with a road win over Morehead State on Thursday. Goal scorers were sophomore Bailey Fisher, junior Alyssa Hardin, and senior transfer Ada Tempert.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Wolgemuth posted an opening day shutout for the Herd, making eight saves in the win. Wolgemuth posted two clean sheets as a freshman in 2022.
Marshall and High Point drew 2-2 in Huntington to open the 2022 season.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS

High Point opened its season Thursday with a 2-2 draw at home against Campbell. The Panthers fell behind by two goals, before answering with a pair to secure the draw.
The Panthers were picked third in the Big South Conference preseason poll. Forward Emily Mashinski and defender Alex DePerno were named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.
Freshman Meg Roden scored the equalizer for HPU Thursday, with the team's first goal coming on a Campbell own-goal.
