HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Athletics is proud to host the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, starting Monday at Guyan Golf and Country Club.

The 12-team, 54-hole event gets underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning. Monday's action will feature 36 holes at the 6,523-yard course.

For Marshall, the tournament – named for esteemed former coach Joe Feaganes – is the starting event for the Fall 2023 season.

"It's always exciting when we are able to open our season with our home tournament," Marshall head coach Matt Grobe said. "The guys had a really good summer and I really like what I've seen in qualifying so far this year. This is an event that we look forward to each year and it is always a privilege to welcome other teams to the Tri-State area."

Marshall returns several members of last season's team back for the 2023 Fall season, led by senior Tyler Jones, who won the 2022 Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational.

Jones and Christian Boyd return as fifth-year seniors while the team also features the winners of two premier West Virginia events with West Virginia Open champion Ryan Bilby and West Virginia Amateur champion Cameron Jarvis, who transferred from Kentucky.

Seniors Joseph Kalaskey, Andrew Wyss and Bennett Zeitner also return, along with Clayton Thomas, who had a solid outing in the Sun Belt Tournament in spring.

In addition to Jarvis, Marshall's Men's Golf team also features three incoming freshmen: Ben Bridges, Jake Rodgers and Tanner Vest.

"Tyler and Christian are back for their fifth years and have showed a lot of leadership in leading our younger guys," Grobe said. "This is a really good group of kids and I can't wait to watch them play this week."

Following Monday's first round, the teams will take the course again for the afternoon session at 1:30 p.m. to complete the first 36 holes.

Tuesday's action will also be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the final round of tournament play. The awards ceremony is expected to start at approximately 2 p.m., barring weather delays.
