PRE-GAME NOTES
When Marshall and Old Dominion meet on Saturday in Huntington, it will mark the ninth time in 10 years that the two teams have met with all of them being conference matchups.
For the second straight week, Marshall head coach Charles Huff will be going against someone from his coaching tree as Ricky Rahne comes to Huntington. Huff and Rahne coached together at Vanderbilt (2011) and Penn State (2014-17) under James Franklin.
In addition to the fun correlation with Huff, there will be a family battle going on as Marshall defensive end Michael Green takes on his brother, ODU linebacker E.J. Green.
There will be plenty of Green – both on the field and in the stands as Marshall celebrates its Homecoming Game on Saturday.
ABOUT MARSHALL
Marshall comes into Saturday's contest with a record of 3-0 after defeating ACC foe Virginia Tech, 24-17, at Joan C. Edwards Stadium last week.
That win ran Marshall's winning streak to eight games, dating back to the middle of last season. Marshall currently has the seventh longest winning streak in the nation.
Marshall running back Rasheen Ali finished with 174 yards and two touchdowns, which led the Herd to the win and also earned Ali the Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Week award. Currently, Ali leads the FBS in scoring (14.0) and rushing touchdowns per game (2.3). He is also No. 3 in rushing touchdowns despite having played one fewer game than anyone in the top-30 due to Marshall's early bye week.
Defensively, Marshall has yet to allow more than 17 points in any game this season and is allowing an SBC-best 4.3 yards per play.
Marshall also leads the FBS in sacks per game (5.0). Sam Burton leads Marshall in that category with 4.0 for the season while Owen Porter is just behind with 3.0. Nine different Herd players have registered at least a half-sack this season.

ODU is led by SBC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Jason Henderson, who is one of the top tacklers in FBS. Henderson comes into the game with 60 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss. Last week, Henderson finished with 17 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
