Women’s Soccer Squares Off With Coastal For Crucial Road Match Friday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – With four matches remaining in the regular season, Marshall women's soccer (3-5-4, 1-2-3 SBC) travels to Conway to face Coastal Carolina (5-4-6, 1-1-4 SBC).

Kickoff is at 3 p.m. Friday in the first leg of a women's and men's doubleheader between Marshall and Coastal Carolina.

PRE-MATCH NOTES

  • Marshall is in a three-way tie for the eighth and final spot in the SBC Women's Soccer Championship with six points. The Chanticleers enter Friday with seven points. 
  • Junior Ami Komori had a breakout week in the Herd's two draws last weekend. The Otsu, Japan native had a long-range goal and also provided two assists which were key in getting results.  
  • Goalkeeper Alexis Wolgemuth is fourth in the conference with 3.92 saves per game. 

ABOUT THE CHANTICLEERS

  • Coastal Carolina is 5-4-6 with a 3-1-2 record at home. 
  • The team has a pair of strikes with five goals or more. Eleanor Ashton and Tamlyn Parkes both rank in the top-10 in the league in scoring goals. 
  • In only the third meeting between the two sides, Marshall leads 1-0-1. The teams played to a 2-2 draw in Conway in 2022.
