Herd Women’s Soccer Drops Game Sunday After Second Half Goal

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's soccer (3-5-2, 1-2-1 SBC) fell 1-0 Sunday to Georgia Southern (5-7-1, 2-2 SBC).
The Eagles scored its winner in the 66th minute on a giveaway by the MU defense.
"Unfortunately you can't control results, but you can control performance and I am proud of the team and the way they battled," Coach Rafa Simoes said. "The team left everything out on the field. We have to move on and congratulations to Georgia Southern on the win."

In a match which could've gone either way on a warm Huntington afternoon, the Herd outshot the visitors, 7-6. The Eagles forced three saves from junior goalkeeper Alexis Wolgemuth with the lone Herd mistake on defense leading to the go-ahead goal.
Marshall travels to Southern Miss on Thursday, Oct. 10 on 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. central. The Herd will return home to Hoops Family Field next Sunday.
