No. 8 Marshall Men’s Soccer Seeded 13th in 2024 NCAA Tournament

Herd set to host winner of Furman/North Carolina at 2 p.m. on Sunday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The eighth-ranked Marshall University Men's Soccer team (11-1-7) received the 13th seed in the 2024 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament as revealed during the selection show on Monday. The selection marks the team's sixth consecutive bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The Herd will face the winner of Furman against North Carolina on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hoops Family Field. The Paladines travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, for the two sides' contest on Thursday.
"There are some really good teams, but teams we're excited to play," Herd Men's Soccer Head Coach Chris Grassie said about their side of the bracket. "We got Furman and UNC. It'll be a tough game. We've played UNC before on a Championship run one time before. We've played Georgetown on a Championship run. Then NC State or Charlotte if they beat Georgetown. It's all exciting games."
Marshall finished the regular on Sunday in the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Championship game against West Virginia in Morgantown falling in penalty kicks.
Defender Alex Bamford, goalkeeper Aleksa Janjic and forward Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos were named to the all-tournament team.
Janjic recorded a pair of clean sheets during the tournament with help from Bamford and the defensive line, who cleared a shot during the second overtime period.
Rodrigues dos Santos tallied the game winner, his 10th of the season, against James Madison in the semifinals on Wednesday. The senior became just the 11th player to record a double-digit goal season with it being the 16th time in program history a student-athlete has reached the 10-goal plateau in a season.
