Marshall’s Mike Green Named Walter Camp First Team All-American

Green was the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, led FBS in several categories
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall defensive lineman Mike Green was named as a Walter Camp First Team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Thursday night.
The honor was first announced during the Home Depot College Football Awards, which aired on ESPN on Thursday night.
Green, the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, helped lead Marshall to a 10-3 record and the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Championship over Louisiana while putting together one of the best seasons in Marshall and Sun Belt Conference history.
The Williamsburg, Virginia, native broke the Sun Belt Conference's single-season sacks record and tied Marshall's single-season record while leading all FBS players in 2024 with 17.0 sacks.
In addition to sacks, Green led all FBS players in the following categories: sack yardage (144), tackles for loss (22.5), TFL yardage (155) and tackles by a defensive lineman (84).
Green's nomination as a Walter Camp First Team All-American marked the second consecutive year that Marshall has had a Walter Camp First Team selection, joining kick returner Jayden Harrison from 2023. It was also the third time in five seasons (OL Cain Madden, 2nd Team, 2020).
Green was only the second time in Marshall Football history at the FBS level that the Herd has had a position player named as a Walter Camp First Team All-American, joining Randy Moss in 1997.
It was the third honor in two days for Green as he was named the College Football Network EDGE Defender of the Year, the HERO G5 Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-American by both outlets.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation is a member of the National College Football Awards Association and is one of five accredited All-American lists that help determine Consensus All-American status. Those include Walter Camp, AFCA, Associated Press, FWAA and The Sporting News.
