13-Seed Marshall Travels to Dallas for Quarterfinal Clash at 12-Seed SMU

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The 13th-seeded Marshall University Men's Soccer team (13-1-7) hits the road for the first time of the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament as it heads to Dallas, Texas, for a Round of Eight Clast at 12th-seeded SMU (12-2-6). Saturday's contest is set to start at 7 p.m. EST/6 p.m. CST.

The winner of the match secures a spot in the 2024 College Cup Final Four in Cary, North Carolina, beginning on Friday December 13.

- Marshall advanced to the Round of Eight with a 2-1 win over the NC State Wolfpack Saturday at Hoops Family. This marks the second time the program has reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament with the last being in the 2020-21 season.

- Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos recorded his second two-goal match of the NCAA Tournament to reach 14 for the season, tied for fourth most in a season in program history with Norman Dutch, who did so in 1997.

- The Brazilian forward's 31 points in 2024 sit tied for fifth in a season in program history with Andy Zulauf and Kurt Mueller in 1982 and 1991, respectively.

- Haruhi Taneda registered an assist on Rodrigues dos Santos' second goal of the victory bringing his NCAA Tournament point total to five.

- Between the sticks, Aleksa Janjic picked up win number 10 on the year making a season-high seven saves in the triumph over NC State. The Serbian goalkeeper 13th nationally with a .805 save percentage.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
- SMU reached the Round of Eight with a 2-1 win over Washington at home in the Second Round on November 24 and a 3-1 win at fifth-seeded Dayton in the Third Round on Saturday.

- Owen Zarnick has tallied a pair of goals in the NCAA Tournament including the game winner against the Huskies in the 89th minute.

- Bailey Sparks has tallied a goal and an assist with his goal being the game winner on a penalty kick in the 65th minute at Dayton.

- With 26 points on nine goals and eight assists, Sparks leads SMU during the 2024 season in all three categories.

- In goal, Martin Dominguez has started 15 of the team's 20 matches this season, including both tournament contests. Dominguez has a 10-1-4 record with five shutouts making 50 saves.
