NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University Baseball's Bryce Blevins was named the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the league office.
Blevins had a dominant performance on Saturday out of the bullpen throwing 7.2 scoreless innings, striking out a career-high nine Manhattan Jaspers and allowing just four hits and three walks.
The sophomore entered the game in the top of the second with runners at second and third with one out. The lefty struck out the first two hitters he faced and cruised the rest of the way.
Blevins received a standing ovation from the 2,100+ fans as he exited in the ninth in the middle game of The Herd's inaugural weekend series Jack Cook Field.
Marshall is back in action on Wednesday as it hosts Bellarmine with a 6 p.m. first pitch at Jack Cook Field.
