Check Has Career-Day as Marshall T&F Scores Pair of Top Finishes

Herd scores 44 at JMU Invite
HARRISONBURG, Va. - Marshall track and field scored 44 athletes Saturday at the JMU Invite at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg.Â
Among the top finishes was sophomore from Australia, Lara Check, who won the women's javelin. Check also finished as the top collegiate finisher in the long jump while also setting a personal record in the 200.Â
Check was one of two first-place finishes for the Herd Saturday, with Mikah Alleyne winning the Women's 400 hurdles with a time of 1:00.53.Â
Marshall scored nine top-three finishes with a total of 44 scoring results for Coach Keith Roberts's team.Â
"I thought it was a good day for us," Director of Track and Field Keith Roberts said. "We had some good finishes on both the men's and the women's side. Despite it being windy, I thought our team really fought through the elements and showed what they are capable of."
