Marshall Falls in Series Finale at JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Marshall dropped its series finale at James Madison by an 11-3 score Sunday afternoon.
The Herd finishes its two-week, six-game road trip with a 3-3 record before coming home to Huntington next Friday.
Redshirt-sophomore Brooklyn Ulrich hit her ninth home run of the season with a 1st inning blast to dead center.
Ulrich became the first Herd player with 50 hits this season. Coming into Sunday, Marshall's second-baseman was tied with Sydney Bickel and Bella Gerlach with 49 hits on the year.
Other run-producing hits Sunday came from Kasia Parks and Destiny Washington. Destiny finished the weekend with five hits for Coach Morgan Zerkle's team.
"Unfortunate result to the weekend but we do have to keep building upon some of the highlights," Zerkle said. "If we only look at the negative we are not going to get better. We have to build upon it and hopefully go into the tournament with a better plan against this team."

The Dukes' eight-run 3rd inning turned a tied contest into a 9-1 game. A pair of 4th inning solo shots gave JMU the eight-run advantage heading into the 5th.
