Warrior Award recipient to be named prior to game Saturday
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall softball (20-22) out-hit Coastal Carolina (28-18) at Dot Hicks Field Friday night, but the Chanticleers hit three home runs en route to a 7-1 victory.
An RBI sacrifice fly by Camryn Michallas provided Marshall's run in its first home game in 20 days.
20 was also the number of wins in which the Chants' ace Raelee Brabham secured with her victory in the circle. Herd pitcher Savannah Rice only gave up two albeit costly hits over four innings in the loss
Half of the Herd's eight hits came with two outs. Sophomore Bella Gerlach eclipsed 50 on the season with her two which came Friday. She joined redshirt-sophomore Brooklyn Ulrich as the two MUSB players to do so in 2024.
Coastal hit two solo shots in the 4th to make a one-run game a 3-0 advantage. A two-run homer in the 5th in the midst of a four-run 5th put the game out of reach.
