Ulrich’s Four-Hit Day Leads Herd Softball to 9-4 Win

Herd goes for series Sunday at noon
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall's offense exploded Saturday for nine runs on 12 hits en route to a 9-4 win over Coastal Carolina on a sunny afternoon at Dot Hicks Field.
Redshirt-sophomore Brooklyn Ulrich had a day to remember, hitting three doubles on a career-best 4-for-4 afternoon.
Ulrich has enjoyed a breakthrough second-full season for the Herd. She leads the team with a .406 average, 56 hits, 16 doubles, and is tied with sophomore Bella Gerlach with 99 total bases.
The Herd's other player with multiple hits Saturday was senior Camryn Michallas, whose three-run home run highlighted a five-run 5th for Coach Morgan Zerkle's Thundering Herd.
Michallas, along with senior Erica Holt, were named the program's 2024 Warrior Award recipients prior to the game. The award was established to honor late alumnus Emileigh Cooper and honors a player who represents her fierce competitiveness and spirit.
In addition to the hitting, junior Bub Feringa pitched a solid game in the circle on the way to her 10th win of the year. Feringa gave up just one earned run while scattering two hits and striking out two.
Feringa scored Marshall's second run in the 1st on a productive RBI groundout by Destiny Washington
