MADISON, Miss. – Marshall junior Ryan Bilby shot a 4-under 68 to surge into a tie for 2nd place after Day Two of the 2024 SBC Championship at Annadale Golf Club in Madison, Miss.

Bilby finished with five birdies and only one bogey en route to the 68, which is one of the best individual rounds from any competitor in this week's tournament.

"Ryan had a fantastic round today," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "We spent the morning before the round in the training room and weren't even sure he was going to be able to play. He decided to give it a go and played incredible."

Bilby's round helped Marshall to one of the low rounds of the day among competing teams with the Herd finishing 2-over as a team, which kept the team firmly in third place at 13-over heading into the final day of stroke play.

He is one of only six players in the field to currently be under par for the tournament.

In addition to Bilby's effort, Marshall got an Even-par 72 from Cameron Jarvis, who closed strong over his final three holes to give the Herd another round at par or better to go toward its team total.

Tyler Jones went 3-under par over a nine-hole stretch of action on Tuesday to rally back after a tough start and card a 1-over 73 that has him in the top-20 going into the final round on Wednesday.

Jarvis and Jones each had four birdies in their rounds for the Herd.

Clayton Thomas had the team's lone birdie on the 16th hole and finished with a 5-over 77 while Joseph Kalaskey carded a 6-over 78.

"It was another really good day for the guys," Grobe said. "The guys played great coming down the stretch and put us in a good position going into tomorrow. We are looking forward to Wednesday's round and hope to keep the momentum going."

Marshall's final round of stroke play gets underway at 8:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday with the Herd being in the final pairings with tournament leader Arkansas State and second-place ULM.

Wednesday's final round of stroke play will determine the four teams who advance to Thursday's Match Play semifinals.

Marshall is in third place by itself, but there are a host of teams within striking distance. The Herd is two strokes clear of Troy and Southern Miss, who are both tied for 4th at 15-over.

Just behind those teams is Texas State (+16), along with Louisiana and Coastal Carolina (+7).
