Marshall Track and Field Preps for 2024 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall track and field has reached the Outdoor Championship season. Director of Track and Field Keith Roberts' Herd travels to Monroe, Louisiana for the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships starting Thursday.

"Our team has been working hard and I know they are ready to compete at a high level," Coach Roberts said. "My message for the meet is positive self-talk and team support. I believe that human beings are capable of amazing feats as long as they don't talk themselves out of succeeding."

"Our last meet showed me how well-rounded we are as a team. We are bringing a great group this week which means they accomplished 1 of 3 tasks that need to be achieved in a championship meet. Number 1, make the travel squad, number 2, make the finals, number 3, beat as many people as possible. We have had great performances this season and now it's time to do it all on the same day. This is a very competitive conference and we are excited to bring out our best performances when it counts."

The decathlon opens events at 11:30 a.m. EST Thursday morning. The women's hammer throw is the first event 90 minutes later, with the women's 1500 meter prelims being the first event on Groseclose Track in Monroe.
