Opening Day of SBC Outdoor Championships Shortened by Weather

Herd women score 5 points on opening day
MONROE, La.- The opening day of the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships were postponed after six events due to severe weather.
Events were postponed until 9 a.m. EST Friday by the conference. Friday's updated schedule is listed below.
Women's 10,000M Run – 8:00 a.m. CT
Men's 10,000M Run – 8:30 a.m. CT
Men's Javelin – 9:30 a.m. CT
Men's 400M Hurdles – 11:00 a.m. CT
Women's 200M Dash – 11:15 a.m. CT
Men's 200m Dash – 11:35 a.m. CT
Prior to the imminent weather, a pair of Herd athletes scored in the Women's Discus. Senior Rebecca Merritt finished 5th with a 55.55 meter throw. Fellow senior Josie Moore set a personal record on her way to an 8th place finish.
The Herd also qualified four athletes in the prelim stages, Kylee Mastin in the 1500, and Mikah Alleyne, Dezire Gee, and Niyah Mitchell in the 400 meter hurdles.
Marshall's full results are listed below. For preliminary qualifiers, "Qualified" is listed to indicate advancement to finals.
