CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Marshall (0-2-1) dropped its match Monday evening against Harvard (1-0-0), with a strong defensive effort to keep the Ivy League Preseason favorites within striking distance.
The Crimson's 28th minute goal off a deflection was the only it would manage past Herd goalkeeper Alexis Wolgemuth.
Harvard - who has advanced with a win to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 each of the last two seasons - had 22 shots with Wolgemuth making five saves to keep Marshall in the match.
"Today was a great test against one of the best best teams in the country," Coach Rafa Simoes said. "Congratulations to Harvard on the win. They are a great team and will do great things this season. We proved we can perform toe-to-toe with the bests in the college system. I am a proud coach tonight and we need to focus on Belmont, which I expect amazing support from our unbelievable fans and community. See you all Sunday!"

It is the second straight match dropped by a goal after the Herd fell to Dartmouth Friday evening. MU was limited to just four shots on Monday, however, the best of which coming on a free kick from Luiza Travassos, forcing a difficult save from the Harvard netminder.
