Herd falls 6-1 to Texas State in San Marcos
SAN MARCOS, Texas - Marshall (2-4-2, 0-1-1 SBC) will return to Huntington with one point after two road matches to open its Sun Belt Conference campaign. The Herd dropped its match Thursday evening, 6-1 against Texas State (5-3-3, 1-0-1 SBC).
Freshman Brooklyn McComas scored her first collegiate goal in the 11th minute to highlight Marshall's offense. Her equalizer came following an earlier deficit created by the hosts' goal 12 seconds into the match - the fastest in Texas State program history.
Freshman Emma Durand made her collegiate debut in goal. The Angers, France native was one of several players called upon for the Herd in the midst of a three-match week.
Durand made two saves on 18 first half shots, her biggest coming in the 36th minute on a clear-scoring opportunity.
Marshall's SBC home opener is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. against Troy. For tickets for both the women's and men's doubleheader from Hoops Family Field Sunday, view HERE.
