Women’s Soccer Opens Sunday Doubleheader At Home Against Troy

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall women's soccer (2-4-2, 0-1-1 SBC) hosts Troy (4-3-2, 0-1-1 SBC) Sunday at 1 p.m. from Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.
Sunday is Herdtober Fest at the stadium featuring a Marshall women's and men's soccer doubleheader. One ticket can allow spectators admission to both contests, but as a reminder with Marshall's Safe to Stay policy, fans would have to purchase an additional ticket upon leaving and re-entering.

PRE-MATCH NOTES
- Sunday is Marshall's conference home opener. The Herd was away from Huntington for a week, drawing with Georgia State in Atlanta, before dropping its match at Texas State Thursday evening.
- A pair of goal scorers notched their first of the season on the road trip. Last year's goal leader Bailey Fisher equalized in Atlanta Sunday. Fisher is third in the conference in total shots (24) and shots on goal (15). Thursday also marked the first career goal for freshman Brooklyn McComas.
- Sunday's match will be the first time Troy plays in Huntington. The Herd won last season's meeting 2-1 in Alabama in what was the first-ever match the two sides played.

ABOUT THE TROJANS
- Troy is 4-3-2 overall with an identical 0-1-1 record in league play. The Trojans were at home in each of its first two league matches, falling to ULM, 1-0 before a goalless draw against Georgia State.
- Similar to the Herd, Troy is averaging a goal per game, while giving up 1.44 per game. Senior Delaney Wells leads the team with three goals this season.
- Two teams looking to prove themselves this season, Troy was picked last in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Poll.
