Coach Rafa Simoes' side won on an 87th minute match-winning goal by Angel Fowler a week prior at Hoops Family Field. The Herd now enters SBC play with a 2-0-1 home record.
"One of our goals was to be undefeated at home before Sun Belt [Conference play]," Coach Simoes said. "Today is a credit to the team, they stuck to the game plan well, and I am really proud of them today."

The Herd got the better of the Sycamores in the match prior to the goal, doubling up on shots, with 20, eight of which were on goal. Junior Bailey Fisher had three of the attempts on goal, with her deflected shot leading to Leckey's winner.
Defensively, Marshall played a sound match, with Alexis Wolgemuth making four saves in her second clean sheet of the year.
Marshall now moves to Sun Belt Conference play after a two-week layoff. The Herd's next game will be at Georgia State on Sunday, Sept. 22.
