Herd’s All-American DE led nation in sacks during record-breaking 2024 season
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall defensive end Mike Green was named as a selection for the prestigious Reese's Senior Bowl on Tuesday evening.
Green became eligible for the event when he submitted the early entry paperwork after declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Reese's Senior Bowl will take place on Feb. 1 at 2:30 p.m. ET from Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
Green, the 2024 SBC Player of the Year, led Marshall to a 10-3 record and the 2024 SBC Championship over Louisiana while putting together one of the most dominant single seasons in Marshall and Sun Belt Conference history.
With a sack in the 2024 SBC Championship win over Louisiana, Green broke the Sun Belt Conference's single-season sacks record and tied Marshall's single-season record while leading all FBS players in 2024 with 17.0 sacks.
In addition to sacks, Green led all FBS players in the following categories in 2024: sack yardage (144), tackles for loss (22.5), TFL yardage (155) and tackles by a defensive lineman (84).
Green was named as a First Team All-American by Walter Camp and a Second Team All-American by AFCA, Associated Press, FWAA and Phil Steele Publications.
He was also named the CFN EDGE Defender of the Year and the HERO G5 Defensive Player of the Year this season.
Green is also the third player in the last two seasons to represent Marshall at the Senior Bowl, joining running back Rasheen Ali and offensive tackle Ethan Driskell, who played in the game in 2024.
