Women’s Soccer Travels to App State in Crucial Road Contest Sunday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Soccer (6-4-3, 2-2-3 Sun Belt) travels to face App State (5-6-3, 1-3-3 SBC) on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. The Herd currently leads the Mountaineers by three points in the conference standings with three matches remaining in the regular season.

COACH RAFA SIMOES
- Head Coach Rafa Simoes is in year two leading Marshall's women's soccer program. The former associate with the Herd men's team is a 2018 graduate of the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he played for then-head coach Chris Grassie.
- Simoes coached 19 newcomers in his first season leading Marshall's women's soccer team. He earned his first win as a head coach on Sept. 1, 2024 in a 1-0 victory over Belmont.

- With consecutive goalless draws against ODU and South Alabama, Marshall is currently in position to qualify for the SBC Women's Soccer Championship with two weeks remaining, view the full standings, HERE.
- Bailey Fisher leads the Herd with six goals and 13 points through 13 matches (T-5th in SBC).
- Fullback Fernanda Dantas paces Marshall with 0.62 assists per game (T-7th in NCAA DI).
- Goalkeeper Emma Durand owns four shutouts with a 1.24 GAA (4-4-2 record).
ABOUT APP STATE
- App State enters 5-6-3 overall and 1-3-3 in Sun Belt play, currently three points shy of the Top-8 in the SBC standings.
- Graduate forward Izzi Wood led the Sun Belt in 2024 with 80 shots and 41 shots on goal; she is five goals shy of the Mountaineers' career goals record.
- Marshall leads the all-time series 5-1-2 against the Mountaineers.
