Women’s Soccer Makes First Trip to South Alabama Friday Evening

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – With four matches remaining in the regular season, Marshall Women's Soccer (6-4-2, 2-2-2 SBC) visits "The Cage" at South Alabama (8-3-1, 4-1-1 SBC) where the Jags are 7-1 this season.
Kickoff from Mobile, Ala. is at 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. CT Friday evening.

COACH RAFA SIMOES
- Head Coach Rafa Simoes is in year two leading Marshall's women's soccer program. The former associate with the Herd men's team is a 2018 graduate of the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he played for then-head coach Chris Grassie.
- Simoes coached 19 newcomers in his first season leading Marshall's women's soccer team. He earned his first win as a head coach on Sept. 1, 2024 in a 1-0 victory over Belmont.
PRE-MATCH NOTES
- Sophomore fullback Fernanda Dantas is tied for the league lead with eight assists this season. She has played a full 90 minutes in four of the last five matches.
- Senior Kajsa Ekstrom has not left the field this season, playing a full 1,080 minutes in defense. The senior defender was instrumental in holding ODU goalless in Sunday's 0-0 draw for the Herd.
- Marshall is currently eighth in the SBC overall standings. For full standings, view HERE.
ABOUT THE JAGUARS
- In its three home league matches, South Alabama is outscoring its opponents, 9-1.
- A pair of scorers in Andrea Iljkic and Zamiyah Hill lead the team with five goals apiece.
- USA leads the all-time series, 2-0. The Herd has never played the Jaguars in Mobile.
