Herd Starts Closes Out Day Two at Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving Team finished day two of the Miami Invitational in fourth place on Thursday in Oxford, Ohio.

"We talked about how we were showing up for one another on deck," Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh said. "This morning there was a bit too much nervous energy and it showed. Tonight we carried a lot more confidence in ourselves and created a much better environment collectively."

The night started with Elyse Wood, Kseniia Luniushina, Parker Lynch and Karley Wolfgram finishing the 200 Freestyle Relay in 1:32.40 for fourth place and the ninth-fastest time in program history.

Maddie Emment then set the third-fastest time in program history closing the race in 4:51.51.

Then in the 200 IM, Molly Warner took second and broke her previous second-fastest time in program history at 2:00.39.

Wood was then a part of two more top 10 times in program history. The freshman took fourth with the fifth-fastest 50 Freestyle in program history at 22.86. Wood then anchored the 400 Medley Relay team with Luniushina, Isabelle Cameron and Lauren McNamara with a time of 3:40.83 for fourth and fifth-fastest time in program history.

"Some great performances tonight! Our 200 Free Relay kicked things off with our 9th fastest performance in history," Walsh said. "Maddie had a phenomenal 500 Free and made the adjustments the staff gave her following the morning. That put her 3rd fastest in program history. Molly had a gusty swim and nearly won the 200 IM, coming down to the final 5 meters. Our sprinters did a good job of some meet management issues that came about and stayed focused during the delays."

In diving, Ella Houk took 11th on the 3 Meter boards with a score of 206.15.
