Herd S&D Finishes Strong on Final Day of Miami Invite

OXFORD, Ohio – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving Team closed out the Miami Invite with strong performances on the final day of the competition on Sunday.

"Really pleased with our performances tonight," Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh said. "We had over 90% season bests over our last two sessions. The women set seven all-time top 10 performances in four of the five swimming events today with another in diving. With such a young team, we learned quite a bit about ourselves and each other over the past four days that will serve us well leading into our second phase of the season."

Kicking off the day was Elyse Wood finishing third in the 100 Butterfly finals with a time of 54.20 with her time of 54.13 in prelims ranking third all-time in program history.

In Platform Diving, Zoe Wuerdman took second with a score of 178.30 as her prelim score of 182.10 set the eighth-best score in program history.

Then in the 200 Backstroke, Molly Warner's prelim time of 149.86 set the seventh fastest time in program history as Abby Adam's time of 2:00.18 tied for ninth fastest in program history.

Elyse Wood took second in the 100 Freestyle with the fourth-fastest time in program history at 49.61.

MU saw two top 10 program times set in the 200 Breaststroke. Isabelle Cameron's time of 2:16.65 was good for sixth with Maddy Akin's time of 2:17.46 in the A Final setting the ninth fastest time.

Warner set another top 10 program time later in the day with a 2:01.00 in the 200 Butterfly in prelims set the fifth-fastest time in program history. In the A final of the event, Lauren McNamara took third (2:00.03) with Warner taking fourth (2:01.93).

In the final event of the meet, the Herd quartet of Wood, Kseniia Luniushina, Nina Nugent and Warner took third in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:22.80, sixth-fastest time in program history.
