CHARLESTON, S.C. — Marshall's Softball team (3-4) swept a doubleheader over College of Charleston (1-6) in resounding fashion Friday.

Lucas was one of several Herd players to fall victim to great defensive plays on hard-hit balls over the first three frames.
Two-out hitting in the 6th allowed Marshall to build its lead for pitcher Paige Maynard. Marshall's junior transfer from Penn State earned her second victory in relief, going the final four innings with just three hits and one run allowed.
The three RBI from Lucas were an early season-high.
Second Game: Marshall 17, College of Charleston 3 (5 innings)
Marshall continued its momentum from the opener right into the second game, batting around its entire order before recording an out in the top of the 1st. The Herd's six runs were highlighted by a grand slam by freshman Tia Titi.
The freshman from Oxford, Ala. had three hits Friday in what was her first-career start.

Every primary starter recorded a hit with Marshall notching 15 total in game two. Every primary starter now has an RBI following action Friday.
