Herd Track & Field Celebrates Seniors, Wins Seven Events Saturday

2/15/2025 7:17:00 PM | Track and Field

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - With the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships coming in less than 10 days, Marshall Track & Field is peaking in the home-stretch, with seven individual wins and 56 top-eight finishes as it closed out its home schedule Saturday with the Marshal Invitational.

"I thought we had a great day, a lot of personal bests," Director of Track and Field Keith Roberts said. "Isaiah Valentine broke a school record. Out in Boston, Kylee Mastin ran a school record. I could go on-and-on with the performances. We don't just look at one individual, we don't look at who finished up front. We try to build depth and if you look at what we did you can see we have a lot of depth."

Kylee Mastin and Isaiah Valentine broke school records in the Women's 1K and Men's 400 respectively. Valentine was also within half a second of breaking a record set by Randy Moss in the Men's Indoor 200.

The team celebrated senior day Saturday, with 15 of its athletes competing for the final time from the Chris Cline Indoor Facility.

Marshall additionally held the "Fastest Kid in Huntington" with kids aged 8th grade and younger competing in front of cheering athletes.
