  • Marshall enters its second season under Head Coach Morgan Zerkle. The 2017 All-American for the Herd led the team that season with a .476 average en route to a NCAA Tournament appearance. The Herd has made two NCAA Regionals in its history (2013 & 2017).
  • Zerkle - the Milton, West Virginia native - has been drafted to the AUSL's Bandits this past January, alongside Assistant Coach Sydney McKinney.

MARSHALL NOTES

  • The Herd is 3-5 entering the weekend. Marshall took two-of-three in its road series at College of Charleston last weekend. The team was scheduled to close on Sunday with Charleston Southern, before the game was canceled due to impending weather in the area.
  • Marshall returns 12 players from last year with 11 newcomers to the roster - including seven freshmen and four transfers.
  • One of the seven freshmen is utility catcher Tia Titi. The Oxford, Ala. native hit her first-career home run, a grand slam in the team's 17-3 five inning win over CofC Friday.
  • Among the returners include 2025 Preseason Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Brooklyn Ulrich. The redshirt junior leads the team with 12 hits so far this season primarily in the leadoff spot.

ABOUT ELON

  • Elon enters Friday 3-5 like the Herd. The Phoenix will be playing its first road game of the year with all games so far coming from their home field in North Carolina. Elon defeated MU's opponent from Clearwater, Morgan State, 2-1 in extra innings last weekend.
  • The Phoenix have a pair of veteran pitchers with a sub-2.00 ERA including senior Isley Duggins. The local Burlington, N.C. native pitched against the Herd two seasons ago in 2023.

ABOUT VILLANOVA

  • Villanova is 5-4 with a ranked win over No. 25 Florida Atlantic last weekend in Boca Raton.
  • The Wildcats made the 2024 NCAA Tournament, eliminating the host Razorbacks in the Fayetteville, Ark. Regional.

ABOUT CLEMSON

  • Clemson is 5-6 opening its season in Boca Raton and Clearwater, Fla. The Tigers played its home opener Tuesday, tying a program-record with four home runs.
  • The Tigers are fifth in NCAA DI with 20 home runs.
