Elijah Vogelsong notches triple, scores run in loss to Yellow Jackets
ATLANTA, Ga. – Marshall Baseball dropped the opening game of its four-game set at Georgia Tech by a 12-1 margin on Friday afternoon at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
"We are playing a very good opponent and we need to play clean baseball to beat them," Marshall head coach Greg Beals said. "We must reduce our free bases and reduce our chases on offense. Most importantly, we need to maintain our competitive fire. We look forward to tomorrow's opportunity."
Elijah Vogelsong notched a triple and scored the Herd's lone run on Cam Harthan's RBI fielder's choice in the fifth inning.
Harthan, Tyler Kamerer and Eddie Leon joined Vogelsong in having hits for the Herd in the loss.
Marshall and Georgia Tech return to the field for Game 2 of the series at 2 p.m. on Saturday from Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta.
