Blevins Named Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference

NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University Baseball pitcher Bryce Blevins was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Team on Wednesday, as announced by the league office.

"Bryce proved himself last year, he is a fierce competitor, and we look forward to his continued success," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said about Blevins' preseason recognition.

The lefty had quite the season on the bump in 2024 earning four SBC Pitcher of the Week awards and a first-team all-conference nod. Blevins finished with a 3.45 ERA, fifth-best in the SBC, and striking out the sixth most batters in the conference at 71 with 28 looking, second most in the SBC.

The native of Louisa, Kentucky, made 15 appearances, 11 starts, throwing an SBC high 86 innings with six quality starts, including a pair of complete games with a nine-inning, four-hit shutout against Texas State on April 6.

Blevins had a pair of 10 strikeout games with 10 at then No. 19 Louisiana on April 13 and a career-high 11 against Georgia State on May 4 as he allowed three or fewer earned runs in 12 of his 15 appearances.

Heading into the 2025 season, The Herd was picked to finish 12th in the SBC Preseason Coaches Poll.

"A 12th place prediction means nothing to us in the program. We have our own expectations," Beals said.

Marshall starts the 2025 season at Hawaii for a four-game series beginning February 14.
