HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (15-10, 8-4 SBC) rallied from a double-digit first-half deficit to down the Sun Belt Conference leading Arkansas State Red Wolves (18-6, 9-3 SBC), 77-72, Wednesday night in a nationally televised game on ESPNU in the Henderson Center.

"Obviously great team win," Herd Men's Basketball Head Coach Corny Jackson said after the victory. "God is good. He put a calming presence over me and the team today before the game. Signs were all around. I reminded the team in the locker room today before the game that we have spent so much time talking about how good they were, trying to prepare them mentally, but I had to remind our team that I think we're pretty good too."

The Herd registered a pair of doubles in the victory with Nate Martin tallying a team-high 18 points on an 8-for-11 shooting night to go with a game-high 14 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Dezayne Mingo registered a career-high 10 assists to just three turnovers while contributing 14 points for his first double-double of the season.

Mikal Dawson added 15 points, Wyatt Fricks tallied 12 and Obinna Anochili-Killen had 11 as The Herd finished with five double-figure scorers for the first time this season. Fricks made four of his six attempts, including 3-of-5 from deep, with Anochili-Killen rejecting four shots.

MU found itself down 35-29 at halftime after trailing for the entirety of the first half, including as many as 10, 16-6, at the 12:46 mark.

Marshall came out with a spark in the second half. The Green and White registered 12 of the first 14 points of the final 20 minutes of play to take a 41-37 advantage at the 17:22 mark. 12 of the points came on a 10-0 run with a three-point bucket by Anochili-Killen just under two minutes out of the break to put The Herd on top for good.

Fricks drained three straight triples to put the home side up nine, 54-45, with 12:18 left on the clock. MU then used a quick 5-0 burst with a pair of points from Jalen Speer and three from Mingo to take its largest lead of the contest at 11 points, 59-48, with just over 10 minutes left.

The Red Wolves pulled within three twice in the final two minutes, but Marshall held off the visitors to just 2-for-5 from the stretch and forced a pair of turnovers while making five free throws to hold on for the win. MU had a hot shooting second half by nailing 60.7 percent (17-for-28) from the field, including 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from deep.

The Herd out rebounded Arkansas State 42-35, including 15-10 on the offensive glass. MU turned those 15 boards on the offensive glass into 20 second-chance points.
