Final round 68 fuels strong finish for Aber; Bilby also in top-15
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Marshall's J.F. Aber capped an impressive week with a 3-under 68, which helped him to a T-6 finish at the 2025 Peoples Championship at Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, Ga., this weekend.
Aber finished the tournament at 4-under overall and was one of only 16 players in the field of 118 to shoot par or better for the tournament.
Another was teammate Ryan Bilby, who carded a final round 69 to end the tournament at Even par – good for a T-14 finish.
"J.F. and Ryan played great (Saturday) and finished off a great week," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "They both played so good and it was a really challenging day today."
For the tournament, Aber finished with 14 birdies and an eagle, which placed him near the top of the tourney list in strokes gained to par.
Aber and Bilby were each 6-under to par on the par-5s at Sea Palms Resort, taking advantage of their consistency on long holes to move up the leaderboard.
As a team, Marshall finished 12th out of the 20-team field. The event was won by UNC Greensboro, who won the event by 16 strokes.
Marshall now returns to Huntington to get some practice in ahead of its trip to South Alabama for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, which takes place March 23-25 at Magnolia Grove Golf Club, in Mobile, Alabama.
