Marshall Ties Single-Game Program Home Run Record in 14-4 Route
3/22/2025 5:49:00 PM | Softball
HARRISONBURG, Va. — Marshall Softball (18-13, 4-1 SBC) continued its hot streak by hitting six home runs on its way to a 14-4, five-inning win over JMU (11-15, 0-5 SBC).
The six home runs - hit by Chandler Hoskins [grand slam], Haleigh Adkins, Brooklyn Ulrich, Bub Feringa, and Rielly Lucas twice - ties a program record for most in a game, set just last year at Georgia State.
The Herd carried its momentum from the 7th inning in Friday's contest, where Coach Morgan Zerkle's side hit three home runs in a four-run rally.
Marshall's 10-run advantage was plenty for the pitching trio of Bub Feringa, Emily Cole, and Paige Maynard, who earned the win in relief per a quirk in pitching qualifying rules determining her as the most effective reliever.
The Hoskins grand slam opened scoring for Marshall which tacked on eight runs all with two outs to begin the contest. The redshirt freshman's first-career slam is the second of the season for MU. Freshman Tia Titi had the team's other slam in February.

For Lucas, it is the Herd senior's second multi-home run game, her first also coming in last season's win at Georgia State. The Huntington native has a team-leading eight long balls hit in 2025.
In addition to tying the home run record, Saturday marked the seventh time in program history with eight runs in an inning (most in program history is 11. The team's 28 total bases is tied for fifth-most all-time. 36 is the team record.
The Herd will go for the sweep on Sunday with an 11:30 a.m. start.
