Lara Check Earns Sun Belt Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Marshall Track & Field's Lara Check has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
Check is currently-ranked 1st in the Sun Belt Conference and NCAA East Region with her 6.24m long jump last Friday at the Hurricane Invitational. Her long jump mark - which won the event - has Check sitting #5 in the country in long jump.
She is ranked #3 in Marshall school history in long jump (6.24m).
"We really weren't expecting too much as it was the first outdoor meet," Check said. "It's just great to get a big jump out there straight away and hopefully it's only up from here."
Marshall's junior from Sydney, Australia will have a busy weekend at the Raleigh Relays, competing in the long jump, the 400 hurdles, javelin throw, and 4x400 relay.
