Herd Drops Series Finale at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. — A road series win but no sweep is the verdict for Marshall's softball team (28-22, 12-9 SBC) following a 6-0 defeat to Georgia Southern (28-22, 12-9 SBC) as the teams leave with identical records with one week remaining in the regular season.
The Herd and Eagles finish the weekend in a three-way tie for third alongside Coastal Carolina with three games remaining.
Marshall was limited to four hits, including one from senior Kasia Parks, who extended her team-leading five game hitting streak. The shutout against the league's top pitching staff is just the second for the Herd in SBC play.
Bub Feringa, Paige Maynard, and Jules King pitched for Coach Morgan Zerkle's side Sunday. Georgia Southern crucially scored three in the bottom of the 6th to provide separation.
Marshall returns home to close the regular season against Georgia State starting on Thursday, May 1. Friday will be Emileigh Cooper Day at Dot Hicks Field with Senior Day on Saturday.
