HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – With a 4-2 record, Marshall Women's Soccer opens Sun Belt Conference action with a Sunday 1 p.m. matinee contest at Georgia Southern (2-5-1).

COACH RAFA SIMOES
- Head Coach Rafa Simoes is in year two leading Marshall's women's soccer program. The former associate with the Herd men's team is a 2018 graduate of the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he played for then-head coach Chris Grassie.
- Simoes coached 19 newcomers in his first season leading Marshall's women's soccer team. He earned his first win as a head coach on Sept. 1, 2024 in a 1-0 victory over Belmont.
- Marshall is 4-2 after its Thursday evening defeat against WVU. The crowd of 1,261 at Hoops Family Field is the largest stand-alone MU Women's Soccer attendance in stadium history.
- Thursday was the first match all season where the Herd failed to score at least two goals. Marshall enters league play averaging 2.500 goals per game, third in the conference.
- Senior Kajsa Ekstrom has played in all 540 minutes this season in defense for Marshall. The Swedish defender has scored two goals on set pieces for Coach Rafa Simoes this year.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
- Georgia Southern enters Sunday with a 2-5-1 record, averaging a little under a goal per contest.
- Freshman Paisley Cathey leads the team with three goals, tied with the Herd's Bailey Fisher for ninth in the league.
- GS leads the all-time series, 4-2-0, with wins in all three meetings as SBC members.
