HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Soccer (4-3-1, 0-1-1 SBC) returns home to face the lone 2-0 SBC East foe, Georgia State (6-3-1, 2-0 SBC) Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

COACH RAFA SIMOES
- Head Coach Rafa Simoes is in year two leading Marshall's women's soccer program. The former associate with the Herd men's team is a 2018 graduate of the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he played for then-head coach Chris Grassie.
- Simoes coached 19 newcomers in his first season leading Marshall's women's soccer team. He earned his first win as a head coach on Sept. 1, 2024 in a 1-0 victory over Belmont.
PRE-MATCH NOTES
- Marshall opened league play with a two-match road trip, coming away with a 1-1 draw at Georgia Southern, before falling to ULM Thursday evening.
- Senior Bailey Fisher scored her team-leading fourth goal in Thursday's contest. The Hurricane native is now tied for 8th-all time in program history with 16 career goals.
- Defensively, Kajsa Ekstrom has not come off the field this season with 720 minutes played. The Swedish senior has scored two goals and had her first assist of the year Thursday.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
- Georgia State is 6-3-1 with a perfect six points in the SBC East, the only such side in the east division. For full standings, view HERE.
- The Panthers are outscoring opponents, 23-12 this season. Four GSU players have three-plus goals this season, with junior Hina Suzuki leading the way with five goals. Junior Aaliyah Faddoul has three goals, but leads the SBC by a wide margin with 56 shots and 30 shots on target.
- Head Coach Ed Joyce is in his 10th season leading the Panthers. He carries a 73-65-41 record.
- Sunday will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two sides, all coming since 2022. GSU leads the series, 2-0-1.
