Marshall Women’s Soccer Dominant in 3-0 Win Over Arkansas State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall (6-3-1, 2-1-1 SBC) delivered a commanding 3-0 win over Arkansas State on Saturday night, holding the Red Wolves without a shot on target to secure a defensive shutout on Senior Night.
Marshall set the tone with disciplined team defending, limiting Arkansas State to five total shots and zero corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Katie McCutcheon, making her first collegiate start, anchored a back line that did not concede a single look at goal as the Herd posted its third clean sheet of the season.
The breakthrough came just before halftime when Marcella Alves scored in the 44th minute, heading home a corner from Fernanda Dantas, with her Sun Belt co-leading sixth assist of the season. Dantas doubled the advantage in the 60th minute, finishing an "olimpico" off the corner. The Herd capped the scoring in the 86th minute as Tiggi Gent finished a bicycle kick.

Dantas played a direct role in all three goals, collecting one goal and two assists. Marshall outshot Arkansas State 16-5, including a 7-0 margin in shots on goal, and earned nine corner kicks while conceding none.
The Herd honored nine seniors before kickoff, then delivered a balanced and unified performance that showcased both defensive discipline and attacking depth.
Marshall has now recorded three shutouts this season and improved to 6-3-1 overall, including 2-1-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
