Herd senior has two rounds under par at Sea Palms Resort
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Marshall's Clayton Thomas earned a top-20 finish after finishing under par in two of his three rounds at the Peoples Championship this week at Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, Ga.
Thomas carded 16 birdies during the tournament, which helped him pace the Herd's team on the week. Those 16 birdies were tied for third-most amongst all players for the tournament.
For the week, Thomas was 7-under on the front nine at Sea Palms Resort, birdieing Hole Nos. 4 and 8 in all three rounds as he found a comfort zone.
In Thursday's first round, Thomas and Cael Ropietski each carded opening round 1-under 70s to pace the Herd.
During Saturday's final round, both Tanner Vest and Cameron Jarvis finished with strong 2-over 73 efforts to help the team.
It was Vest's third consecutive round of 73 as he maintained consistency throughout the tournament.
Vest's effort for the Herd came in the team portion while Jack Minutoli also duplicated Vest's feat with three rounds of 73 while competing as an individual.
Marshall's next event is the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by South Alabama, from March 30 to April 1.
