"I'm looking forward to getting the outdoor season started," Director of Track & Field Keith Roberts said. "Over the past few years we have been strong in a few events that are only competed during the outdoor season and that could be significant for our team. We had a lot of new people step up during the indoor season and they are eager to get going."

The last time Marshall T&F was in action was at the SBC Indoor Championships last month. The Herd had four athletes earn All-Conference accolades including overall high-point scorer for the team Markayla Moore. The senior and Huntington High School graduate begins her final season following a podium finish in the Weight Throw.

"I had a great indoor season, and I'm looking to build on that outdoors," Moore said. "Just focusing on staying healthy, staying present, and being ready to compete in Florida!"

The Herd had several breakthrough performances from its over 30 newcomers to the roster for 2025-26, including transfer Otenidi Omot. The junior scored twice at the SBC Indoor Championships in both the High Jump and Triple Jump.

"I'm excited to finally be outdoors," said Omot. "Indoor season is really just a stepping stone for outdoors and I believe the team is ready to take the next step."

The transition to outdoor season and warmer weather will be a welcome site for the Herd, who has five Sunshine State natives, including Alayzeia Williams. The sophomore from Cocoa scored in the 60m Hurdles at the SBC Indoor Championships.

"We've been putting in a lot of work leading up to this first outdoor meet, so this weekend is about the transition from indoor season into outdoor season and seeing the hard work pay off," Williams said. "I'm excited to compete, especially in some warmer weather, and getting a feel for where I'm at heading into this half of the season!"

The River City Relays will be the first of seven scheduled meets for the Herd before the SBC Outdoor Championships take place from Mobile, Ala. starting on May 14. The East First Rounds of the NCAA Outdoor Championships will be in Lexington, Ky. this year starting May 27.
